Building Foundations for Success will carry out Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) in 12 community schools in El Salvador, a methodology that assesses students' actual learning levels and provides targeted support to reach grade-level proficiency in literacy and numeracy. Building on pilot results showing 65% improvement in math and 85% in reading, the initiative will train teachers and engage community members to lead remedial learning clubs.

Reducing barriers to quality maternal care for Mayan women

Improving health beyond the clinic: one home at a time

Guatemala Village Health will improve the health of Maya families in remote Izabal, Guatemala by using a cost-sharing, community-directed model to install 350 household water filters, 110 composting toilets and 110 smokeless stoves effectively reducing high rates of waterborne disease, respiratory illness, and chronic malnutrition - especially among women and children.
